St. Brigid, 5th century patroness of Ireland, also called Mary of the Gael was a contemporary of St. Patrick and founded the first Irish convent at Kildare. She was well known for her works of charity and is honored as the patron saint of infants, dairy farmers, blacksmiths and more. St. Brigid's feast day is February 1.
